The City of Grapevine will unveil two high-tech fire stations aimed at improving the community's preparedness and response to fires.

The Grapevine Fire Department will be moving into the newly constructed fire stations that were funded by the city after being put to a vote in 2017. The two new stations will replace existing stations 2 and 3, which were outdated and are being phased out.

"These fire stations have served Grapevine well for many decades; however, as apparatus, equipment, and staffing needs have changed, the original stations were not conducive to meeting new demands," the city said in a social media post. "When originally built, there were no female firefighters on staff in the Grapevine Fire Department. Today, there are four females amongst the ranks and these modern updated facilities will appropriately accommodate all staff members. The new fire stations will also offer amenities that include multiple features that will enhance the safety of fire personnel."

Other improvements include individual dorms, gear washer-extractors, gear dryers, and a workout/fitness area for members of the department to stay in shape.
