Burleson issued the following announcement on May 21
An updated Declaration of Local Disaster and Public Health Emergency was signed by Mayor Shetter on May 19. The new declaration incorporates Governor Abbott’s newest executive order GA-23, which the Governor signed on May 18. The new declaration is effective for seven days, or until May 26, and the City Council will consider whether to renew and continue the declaration at a special meeting tentatively scheduled for early next week.
The changes in the newest declaration are highlighted in yellow. View Declaration. The newest declaration incorporates the governor’s orders GA-19 (Elective Surgery) and GA-23 (Open Texas, Phase 2) by reference. Other changes in GA-23 and the City’s declaration is that they reopen:
- May 18
- Massage establishments, personal-care and beauty services, tattoo studios, and piercing studios, provided they appropriately social distance between work stations
- Youth clubs (Boy Scouts, FFA, etc.), provided they appropriately social distance and have no more than 10 people at an indoor meeting
- May 22
- Bars, provided they do not exceed 25% occupancy
- Bingo halls, rodeos, zoos, and bowling alleys, provided there is appropriate social distancing
- May 31
- Youth camps, provided there is appropriate social distancing and other guidelines are met
- Youth sports programs practices may begin, but games and similar competitions may not begin until June 15, 2020
