The Tarrant County Housing Assistance Office, Weatherford Housing Authority and Housing Authority of Fort Worth will receive more than $1.5 million in total HUD grant funding to assist with their COVID-19 pandemic response.

According to the office of Rep. Kay Granger (R-Texas), the HUD grant funds provided to the local public housing authorities will come from the state's federal CARES Act funding.

"Ensuring strong communities where residents are safe and with shelter is among the best ways to combat the spread of the virus, but unfortunately, too many public housing agencies on the frontlines have seen their own resources stretched thin by the pandemic, as have the low-income families, seniors, and those with disabilities who they serve," Granger said.

The Housing Authority of Fort Worth will receive $926,011, with the Tarrant County Housing Assistance Office receiving $522,419, and the Weatherford Housing Authority receiving $95,101.
