City of Watauga issued the following announcement on Sept. 8
Road Closure – Basswood Blvd (Hightower Dr) at railroad crossing off Denton Highway - Union Pacific Railroad – September 13, 2020.
Union Pacific Railroad will be closing all lanes of Basswood Blvd at the railroad crossing from 4 a.m. on Sunday, September 13 until 11 p.m. The closure will allow contractors to replace the railroad tracks that cross the road and crossing boards. If you travel on Basswood Blvd, be prepared to take an alternate route to avoid delays.
Traffic will be detoured via Watauga Road and Beach St. while driveway access will remain open to businesses along Basswood Blvd, there will be absolutely no through traffic across the railroad tracks. Cars proceeding on Basswood Blvd will encounter road closed barricades at Starwood Dr. If you must travel Basswood Blvd, please follow the detour signs and expect delays.
Contractors will be working round the clock to complete the work during the specified time period. However, once they start work, they shall have to continue until work is complete.
