TOWN OF TROPHY: Halloween Trick or Treating and Safety Reminders

Halloween

Town of Trophy issued the following announcement on Oct. 1

With Halloween right around the corner, the Town of Trophy Club would like to remind residents and visitors that there are currently no plans to "CANCEL" Halloween Trick or Treating in TC this year. Halloween, specifically Trick or Treating, is NOT a Town run event or activity but rather a time-honored tradition that the community supports. If people choose to participate in Trick or Treating on October 31, they do so at their own volition.  We ask that those who choose to Trick or Treat please follow appropriate social distancing and safety guidelines as outlined by the CDC.  If you are interested in some other Halloween celebration activities, please check additional CDC holiday suggestions here.

For people looking for some refresher information surrounding Trick or Treating, the Trophy Club Police Department would like to offer the following helpful safety tips to trick-or-treaters, parents, and motorists in order to assist the community in enjoying this fun-filled holiday as safely as possible.

Trick or Treaters:

  • Make sure to bring a flashlight and cellular phone on your trick-or-treat outing
  • If the lights are out at the house, pass it up
  • Be mindful of the street names and addresses on your trick-or-treating route
  • Never accept rides from strangers.
  • Never enter strangers’ homes.
  • Masks should not be worn if they impair vision.
  • Children should look in all directions before crossing the street.
Parents:

  • Accompany your child on his or her trick-or-treat outing
  • If you do not walk with your children (if they are older) instruct children not to stray from their group.
  • Parents should know what route their children will be taking.
  • Do not allow your child to accept anything that appears inappropriate or suspicious
  • Inspect your child’s candy before they eat it
  • All fruit should be cut and closely examined before eating.
  • Children should never take shortcuts through backyards or alleys.
  • Give wrapped homemade treats only to children you know.
  • Don’t leave your home unattended on Halloween night.
  • Keep pets inside your home, or other safe places on Halloween night.
  • Realistic replica firearms should never be used.
Motorists:

  • Drive extra careful in neighborhoods
  • Don’t drive while wearing bulky costumes
Remember, if you see anything suspicious please contact 9-1-1 or call the non-emergency number at 972.434.5500 and Press 9!
